TrailerMate™ products are purpose-built access systems intended for specific truck and trailer applications.
Trailer dimensions, mounting surfaces, deck heights, configurations and operating environments can vary. Always confirm that the TrailerMate™ product being used is appropriate for the intended trailer and application.
Read and follow the instructions, warnings and product information supplied with your specific TrailerMate™ product before placing it into service.
Before Every Use
Take a moment to inspect the system.
Do not use a TrailerMate™ access system if you identify damage, excessive wear, missing components or another condition that could affect safe operation.
Check the Structure
Inspect rails, rungs, steps, welds and structural components for visible damage, deformation, cracking, excessive corrosion or unusual wear.
Check Attachment Points
Inspect hooks, brackets, mounting points, hardware and other engagement components applicable to your specific product.
Check Walking Surfaces
Keep rungs, steps and climbing surfaces free from mud, oil, grease, ice and other materials that may create a slipping hazard.
Check the Trailer
Confirm that the intended attachment or support area is suitable, stable and free from visible damage that could affect the access system.
Check Positioning
Confirm the access system is positioned and engaged according to the instructions for the specific TrailerMate™ model.
Check the Area
Make sure the area around the system is clear and that conditions do not create an unnecessary hazard during access or egress.
While Using TrailerMate™
Climb deliberately.
Good access depends on both the equipment and the way it is used.
Face the ladder or access system while ascending and descending.
Keep a hand available to grasp the ladder or designated handhold while climbing and transitioning.
Avoid jumping from the trailer or skipping rungs or steps when entering or leaving the trailer.
Do not carry an object or load in a manner that could interfere with your grasp, balance or ability to climb safely.
Do not use a TrailerMate™ product for a purpose, configuration or application for which it was not intended.
Remove From Service
Know when not to climb.
Do not use the product if:
- A rung, step, rail, weld or structural component is damaged.
- A hook, bracket, fastener or attachment component is missing, loose, damaged or not properly engaged.
- The product has been modified in a manner not authorized by TrailerMate™.
- The intended trailer attachment or support area is damaged or unsuitable.
- Rungs or climbing surfaces are contaminated with oil, grease, ice or another material that could create a slipping hazard.
- The system cannot be positioned or used according to the instructions for the specific TrailerMate™ model.
- You are uncertain whether the product is appropriate for the application.

TrailerMate™ products may be designed differently depending on the trailer configuration, deck height, attachment method and intended access point.
Do not assume that one TrailerMate™ configuration is appropriate for every trailer or every application.
